MyOwnLarder

What it costs us. What we keep.

Most of MyOwnLarder costs almost nothing to run, so it’s free. The AI costs us per use, so that’s what Plus pays for. These are the numbers.

Each AI use, at cost.

We pay Anthropic for every call to Claude, by the amount of text and images read and written. Averages over the last 30 days where we have enough calls; our own estimate where we don’t yet.

What’s left pays for the servers, the database, email, support and building the next thing, and covers the free plan’s AI uses. Hosting is shared with the other Robin of Loxley apps, so we don’t split it out per person. Japanese prices include consumption tax.

The card fee is part of the price, never added at checkout: charging people extra for paying by card is banned in the UK and against the card companies’ rules in Japan. It’s higher in Japan because we bill from the UK. A yearly plan pays one fee instead of twelve.

Stripe’s standard UK rates from stripe.com/gb/pricing, checked October 2026: 1.5% + 20p for UK cards, 3.15% + 20p for cards from outside Europe, and 2% to change currency.
